Walter Davis, age 85, Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of May 2, 2018. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 20th, 1933. Walter married his wife, Rosella on May 3rd, 1957. This year marks their 63rd wedding anniversary. Together they had four children: Walter Davis Jr, Los Angeles CA, Michael A. Davis, Denver CO, Joyce Davis Blaschke, Santa Cruz CA, and Debra A Davis, Las Vegas NV. Walter enlisted in the US Air Force on Mar 19, 1953, and served 26 years and 12 days. Walter served at Eielson AFB Alaska, Orlando AFB FL, Chanute AFB Champaign IL, Cigli Air Base Izmir Turkey, Scott AFB Belleville IL, Norton AFB San Bernardino CA, Athens Air Base Greece, Torrejon Air Base Madrid Spain, George AFB Victorville CA, Southern Command Panama CZ and Lowry AFB Denver CO. He retired March 31, 1979, as Personnel Superintendent at the rank of Master Sergeant. In his retirement, Walter enjoyed the wonders of new technology, visiting his children and spoiling his grandsons. Walter Davis, in his courageous and adventurous 85 years of life, was on the front line of many integrations. His advice “No matter what, keep moving forward.” Walter was predeceased by his mother Iva Mae Gilbert, father Adolph Davis, step-father, Horace McKee and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Rosella, four children, Walter Jr., Michael (Avery), Joyce (Robert), and Debra; his four grandchildren, Spencer, Mason, Robert Jr., and Tyson. We wish to thank the nurses, caregivers, and other staff at the VA, and Denver Hospice, for their loving care, concern, and support that enabled Walter to maximize his quality of life in his final days. Military Honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of his life will be held immediately following the service.
