Walter William Hendrickson
November 17th, 1924 - January 2nd, 2007
Walter William Hendrickson, 82 of Floodwood died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth. He was born November 17, 1924 in Van Buren Township to Frank and Lillian (Hill) Hendrickson. Wally married Lois Ruohoniemi on September 21, 1951 in Floodwood. Together with his wife, Wally owned and operated Wally's Pool Hall from 1954 until 1979. He also owned and operated Wally's Repair shop for more than forty years. Wally was a sheet metal worker for Local Union #10 from 1981 until 1992 and was a member of Local #10 for 25 years. Wally was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Floodwood Lions Club, and the Floodwood City Council. He was a member of the Floodwood Volunteer Fire Dept. for 23 years. Wally was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Mannila and Ed Hendrickson; sisters, Esther Hendrickson, Helen Haanpaa, and Elsie Rautio; and a granddaughter, Erin Hendrickson. Wally will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Lois; sons, Steven (Anne) of Coon Rapids, David (Shelley) of Eagan, and Eric (Kelly) of Vadnais Heights; four grandchildren, Jesse (Kristie), Cy, Will, and Haley Hendrickson; brothers, Leo of Floodwood and Oscar of Worcester, Mass.; and his sister, Sadie Maki of Hibbing. Memorial services were held Saturday, January 6, 2007 in Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. Inurnment was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Van Buren Township. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
