Walter "Lenny" M. Leonard

Walter "Lenny" Leonard, 87, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017. Lenny was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 1, 1930 to Elmer and Loretta Leonard. He retired from the US Navy and he was a stationary engineer for the US Navy and Midland Hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Meriden, Connecticut. Lenny loved God, his nation and his family. He enjoyed watching horse racing, dog racing and he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Loretta Leonard. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Linda Janice Leonard; one son, Walter Jr. Leonard of Las Vegas, Nevada; three daughters, April L. Canalia and husband, Chris of Haines City, Florida, Loretta Ordine of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marie Leonard of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother in law, James Blitchington and wife, Barbara of Georgia; two sister in laws, Judy and husband, Danny, and Joyce; four grandchildren, Ryan and fiancé, Elaine, Matthew and his beloved, Erin, Sarah, Andrew; two great grandchildren, Tyanna and Gabriel; two nephews, Edward Leonard Jr. of Waterbury, Connecticut and Frank Leonard and wife Carolyn and their two sons of Connecticut; four close friends, Fran, Georgia, June, Karen; many nieces/nephews and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, August 28, 2017. Service will on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida with Pastor Ken Bish - Chaplain from Vitas Hospice, officiating. He will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery.
