Walter Scott Jr, Retired Major USAF Walter Scott, Jr, born on August 9, 1933, in Marshall, Indiana, passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 90 in Centennial, Colorado. He served in the US Army for 2 years and in the US Air Force for 18 years. Walter was a dedicated individual who pursued education at Marshall High School in Indiana and furthered his studies at Olivet Nazarene University, where he earned a Bachelor's in Social Work. He continued his academic journey at the University of Chicago, achieving a Master's in Social Work. Throughout his career, Walter made significant contributions; setting up a Social Work program at his alma mater ONU, teaching part time at ONU, a Social Worker in the Welfare department in South Bend, Indiana, and a Clinical Social Worker in various locations, including Kankakee, Illinois, and several USAF bases across the globe. He was particularly known for his work with returning Vietnam Veterans during his early tenure with the US Air Force. Walter was a valued member of Springs First Church of the Nazarene and Denver First Church of the Nazarene, where he served the Lord, the community and found fellowship. In his leisure time, Walter enjoyed being an all-around handyman, rebuilding and working on computers, and embarking on car trips where he often got lost, relishing in what he called "getting the lay of the land." He is survived by his beloved wife Marlene of 67 years, daughters Cheryl and Marilyn, son Philip, grandsons Casey and Braden, granddaughters Brynne and Grace, grandson-in-law Cayman, great-grandchildren Parker and Emery, as well as numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter G and Clara Scott, and siblings Rev. Robert Scott, Bettye Church, Clifford Scott, Mary Jean DePugh and Louise Rouse. A ceremony to honor and remember Walter's life will be held at Tower Community Fellowship, 1800 S Tower Rd, Aurora, CO 80013, Friday March 1, 2024 at 11:00. It will be live streamed through their website. Major Scott will be intered at Ft Logan Cemetary with full military honors in a private ceremony.
