Wayne Ivan Maki, 75 of Cromwell died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in the home he was born in. He was born October 14, 1931 in Eagle Township to William and Ida Maki. Wayne graduated from Cromwell High School in 1949. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1956 Wayne returned to the family home where he farmed his entire life. He also did some building construction, backhoe and gravel work. In the winter, he enjoyed using draft horses to haul wood. For recreation, Wayne enjoyed 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and hunting. Wayne was preceded in death by five brothers, Arnold, Arvo, John, Tauno, and infant brother, Leonard; sisters, Sylvia Crockroft, Hilda Holm, and Lila Blake. He is survived by his brother, Arthur of Cromwell; sisters, Irene Atwood of Carlton, Irja (Jack) Roy of Duluth, Elna Abelson of Seattle, and Ilene (George) Basquez of Denver; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends on Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the Fireside Room of Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet. There was military honors and a time of sharing.
