Wayne Stuart McFarland

Wayne Stuart McFarland, age 87, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs passed away at his home on December 27, 2014. He was a professional photographer who owned the Payton Studio in Colorado Springs for 40 years. Wayne was born on April 17, 1927 in Colorado Springs to the late James Raymond and Edna Mae (Stuart) McFarland. He was a graduate of Colorado Springs High School and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He married the love of his life, Shirley Johnette Bauer, on October 8, 1948 at the First United Methodist Church after meeting at the Youth Group there.He attended Blair Business School, was an apprentice photographer in Colorado Springs under Mr. Fred Stegner for many years, and was an active member and officer of the Colorado Springs Executives Association. Wayne and Shirley were very active in the ministries of First United Methodist Church and were integral in building the John Wesley Ranch Chapel (Divide, Colorado) for the FUMC. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed basketball, tennis, playing cards and spending time with his family.He is survived by his children: Steven (and Kathryn) McFarland; Tim (and Patti) McFarland; Cindi McFarland (and Greg) Blessing, all of Colorado Springs and Jenifer (and Rick) Lesan of McLean, Virginia. Wayne has eight grandchildren: Michelle Woodward, Heather Parsons, Cassidy Blessing, Cody Blessing, Trevor McFarland, Brett McFarland, Zach Lesan and Rachel Lesan and seven great- grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in 2010 and his sister, Edna Chleboun in 2001.Memorial services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs.
