Wesley Tyler McKinley

Wesley (Wes) Tyler McKinley, 16, of North Port, Florida placed himself in God’s hands on Friday April 8, 2011. Wes is survived by his parents Charles & Margaret McKinley, his older brother and protector, Blake Jacobson, and his Nana, Lorraine Jacobson. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and innumerable friends. Wesley attended North Port High School after relocating from Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and then attended Bishop Kenny High School prior to moving to North Port. Wesley was a kind and gentle soul, with “sapphire blue eyes” and a smile and a good word or thought for everyone. He was the big brother many never had, and in his own words “he always tried to make the people he cared about smile”. Wesley was a self-taught guitarist, making beautiful music; a talented artist, and wise beyond his years. He dearly loved the students at his schools, and embraced the North Port High School community, which totally embraced him. His “Bieber” do, his Marlin’s hat and his “Hollister” look will be forever in our hearts. He was a wonderful son, brother and friend, and will be missed every minute of every day. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 on Friday, April 15, 2011 at San Pedro Catholic Church. A reception to celebrate Wesley’s life will be held at Tavern by the Green at Sabal Trace Golf & Country Club after the Mass.
