Marie Hasse

Dear Lin, Sarah and Mary Katherine, I just read in the Ledger of Chris Widner's recent passing. I haven't been on FaceBook for months and have only Sarah's cell, which I assume has changed by now, so I hope that this message doesn't seem too impersonal! These are emotional days for all of you, I know, and most likely different for each of you. I have experienced a similar situation with different details. My daughter Karin was here for two weeks helping me sort and pack up my dad's library of about 800 books, which has been in my dining room and garage for nearly four years now. A good friend from Minnesota was here with his truck and fulfilled his promise to get them to the Seminary Library in our hometown of Mankato, MN. I am still teaching thru the pandemic, mostly on FaceTime with some in person due to a screen for between the pianos, which my son Jonathan built for me last August. It has been difficult, but manageable and just hoping that life will be more normal in the fall. I know what keeps Sarah busy, but would love to hear about Mary Katherine's life. I assume that Mom is still working and would have tales to tell about the last year. My regret is that I never made it to hear Chris make music when he played in Winter Haven. Hoping that you are all well and happy! Again, I'm sorry for your loss. Marie Hasse 863-224-5033

Very sorry to hear about Mr Hunt's passing. I was one of his students years ago but never forget his sense of humor or him telling about becoming an aeronautical engineer. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Christa Waters Beeson

Dear Sarah,Katie and family there are not enough words i can say to heal the pain your in right now. Chris always had a reply to any messages or posts i would send him. He was so supportive when my wife passed away nearly 3 years ago. Here is just one post from Chris in reference to my wife's passing. Wiley Christopher Widner I will miss our little late night chats. RIP my friend. So sorry for yours and our loss Larry. I always thought Chris tried to do what was best and overcome his demons, The Eagles Joe Walsh wrote a song One Day at a Time that dealt with alcohol and drug addictions, knowing Chris Wiley was proud he overcame his. We will always by Red Devils and Kathleen High Alumni until we all are gone. As a fitting tribute to Chris for his love of music, playing music and song i posted 2 songs in dedication and tribute of his memory. Number 1. While My Guitar Gently Weeps by the Beatles , knowing how much Chris loved to play his guitar and i am sure his guitar weeps now, and the second song was from the Eagles Hotel California guitar dueling riff by Joe Walsh and Don Felder. Chris and I often spoke about that duel between Walsh and Felder as nothing but fantastic and professional, So i used Hotel California as a tribute to Chris in his honor and memory, we discussed that song many times. I am so sorry for your loss and i will miss Chris's posts and messages he always shared with me. I shall miss his chats his posts but most of all i shall miss Chris. He was so helpful to me in my time of grief. I shall never forget that God Bless the Widner family......Larry Battle
