William Allie, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms surrounded by other family members on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his home in Castle Rock, Colorado. Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan to William Allie, Sr. and Birdetta (Moss) Allie. He was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Pershing High School in 1954 and continued his education in Science and graduated from Wayne State University. Bill served in the U.S. Army in the 86th Reconnaissance Battalion “A” Company during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956. In 1957 Bill began a long career in the automotive industry working for Ford Motor Company as a Chemist/Engineer in Research and Failure Analysis. He retired after 42 years with the company in 1998. Bill love to spend time with his family and friends. In the 1960’s, with Ford Motor Company as his sponsor, Bill “Drag Raced” the Ford Mustang throughout the country with his partner and friend, Jack Roush. When Ford pulled out of the sport, Bill continued employment with Ford Motor Company and Jack moved on to form his racing company. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, car nut, enjoyed water sports and racing his boats, and riding his motorcycle. He was Mr. Fix-it and could accomplish anything he set his mind too. In his later years he enjoyed traveling in his RV checking off places from his “bucket list”. Bill loved life, lived it under his terms and to the fullest. This kind, sweet, smiling man will be missed by many. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda Allie. (Bill hung on to the last few days of his life and waited to pass on their 33rd Wedding Anniversary). He is also survived by four children; Nancy Tanner of Dearborn, MI; William Michael Allie of Dexter, MI and his wife Vicky; Holly Wrathell of Walled Lake, MI; and Patrick Tyl and his daughter-in-law, Lynn Tyl of Castle Rock, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; Two siblings, Alex Allie of Novi, MI and Rick Allie of Livonia, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Susan Allie and brothers, John Allie and Leo Allie. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
