Bill Bowers, 82 of Wheat Ridge, entered peacefully into eternity on November 14, 2013. Bill was born to Major Pierce Bowers and Mabel Redmon on July 15, 1931. He was their fifth child. Both of his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother preceded him in death. Bill attended Berkley Gardens Elementary School and East High School. In 1952 he entered the service and served in the Korean Confllict for 2 years. After leaving the Army, he went to work at the security offices of A.D.T. as a security officer, working there for 20 years. In 1963 he met and married Mary Pat Carberry and this past May they celebrated 50 years of marriage. There were no children but both have several nieces and nephews and they became surrogate parents to them all. When Bill retired after 20 years with ADT he went to work at his profession which was the awning business. He not only installed them, he welded the iron forms and eventually it became his trade. He loved designing intricate forms and yes, making them stay up under all conditions. He left the business at the age of 79 with a lot of accomplishments. His pastime at home was working crossword puzzles and doing them in ink, and was an avid reader. Everyday he had lunch out and he made many friends talking about the past and the future. He loved comic strips, saying it was the best part of the paper. He had to be involved with sports during the baseball season and definitely the Bronco season. He was a pessimist but loved to be proven wrong when they always won. When you hear the song “I did it my way”, remember Bill, as this was his philosophy. he never made excuses for, or explained his answers. He didn’t owe anybody anything and felt very free. His regrets were he didn’t always have enough money, but he did everything he wanted to do and more. His medical health wasn’t the best due to bad knees so he used a walker and cane. When the Bowers moved to Wheat Ridge they soon became surrogate parents of their neighbors and their new baby, becoming grandparents. Life has been good to Bill and he will be sorely missed. Services will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on November 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM, Staging area “A”. Please arrive at the staging area 10 minutes early. A reception will follow at Rich Carberry’s house, 3006 S. Zenobia St.
