William "Bill" Alan Coup, 75, of Hopkins, SC entered into rest, Monday, August 1, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. Born May 5, 1941 in Akron, OH he was a son of the late, Charles F. and Wylanne (Harper) Coup. Bill was a more than 20 year veteran of the US Air Force, and during his career he served two tours in Vietnam. He served in many capacities, earning a wide range of medals to include the Air Force Commendation Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his retirement, his final post was that of a Draftsman stationed in Germany. Following his military service, Bill obtained his Master's Degree in Library Science and worked as a Reference Librarian in both Brunswick, OH and Boynton Beach, FL. Bill's passion was genealogy and he would spend every moment he could researching his own as well as that of others who needed his help. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Coup as well as his niece, Jennifer Coup Caballero. He is survived by his brother, John "Larry" Lawrence Coup (Marcia) Hopkins, SC.; nephew, John L. Coup, Jr (Lauren); nephew in-law, John R. Caballero; as well as two great nieces, Molly and Stella and one great nephew, Skyler. In accordance with Bill's wishes, he will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Jennifer Coup Caballero Memorial Endowed Scholarship, c/o Mars Hill University Advancement Office, P.O. Box 6792, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
