William M. (Bill) Dennis, age 70, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Bear Creek Center, Morrison Colorado. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Robert C. Dennis and Catherine A. (Reusing) Dennis. Bill graduated from Central Catholic High School in Reading, PA in 1966 and went on to graduate with a AA degree from Florida College in 1976, graduated with a BA from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1978 and then graduated with a MA from the University of Colorado in 1983. He had a variety of jobs over his lifetime but most recently he was a substitute teacher in the Denver, Colorado area. Bill was a Vietnam veteran. He enlisted in the Navy in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1966, and his tour of duty in Vietnam was on the USS Waldron. When his tour of duty was done, he served in the Naval Reserve until 1971. Bill loved music. He played the harmonica and was known as “Mr. Bill” wherever he played. Bill played his harmonica with friends and a number of bands in the Denver area. He loved to entertain people. Not only with his music but with his sense of humor. He even played for the nurses at the Denver VA Hospital before he was transferred to Mount Evans Hospice at Bear Creek Center. He also loved to read and study the Bible. Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in the Denver area since 1972. Bill is survived by two siblings: Barbara M. (Buser) Mengel, wife of Gerald A. Mengel of Reading, PA and Jack R. Dennis, husband of Cheryl (Saylor) Dennis of Schuykill Haven, PA. Also, 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 5 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, 2 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew. Bill’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the Harkrider and Campbell families and all of Bill’s friends that helped him during the last 40 years of his life. We would also like to thank all the Colorado Veteran’s Organizations, the Denver VA Hospital, Mount Evans Hospice of Colorado and Bear Creek Center for all the help and consideration during the last days of Bill’s life. A Military memorial service and a Celebration of life service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on June 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. All Veterans Funeral & Cremation, Colorado, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to William M. Dennis’ name to the Church of Christ, Colorado or any Veterans Organization.
