William H. 'Bill' Heckle peacefully passed away at Agape Hospice, Lexington, on February 24, 2018, at the age of 78. He was born on October 20, 1939, in Greensboro, NC, the second son of Julius H. and Daisy Williams Heckle. He attended Edmunds High School (Sumter, SC), graduating from high school at Presbyterian Prep School (Maxton, NC). He then attended Presbyterian Jr. College (Maxton), the University of South Carolina and numerous electronics and computer schools in the U. S. Army. After serving for six years in Okinawa, the Philippines and the U.S. as a computer specialist in Army Intelligence, Bill relocated to West Columbia. For the next 45 years his positive work ethic, integrity and creativity produced a successful career in accounting and data processing, serving as Controller of Burton International, Blood Diagnostics Corp and as owner of Heckle Business Solutions (development and maintenance of accounting and data processing systems). Along the way he never allowed business to interfere with his commitment to family, his passion for 'ham' radio, his service as a Deacon and financial advisor to Northside Baptist Church (West Columbia) and Gamecock sports. While we are saddened by the earthly death of one we love so dearly, we rejoice in the goodness of the Lord. Bill is probably already attempting to increase the operating speed of Heaven's computers! Bill is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Linda; and daughter, Elizabeth Lee. Also surviving is a brother, Julius 'Jay' (Margaret); niece, Kathy Kozma (Chris), children, Christopher Kozma and Kayce Bragg (Chip), children 'Bubba' and Hunter; nephew, Don, children, Taylor and Logan; nephew, Mark (Ellen); and niece, Kimberlee Keisler (Terry), children Cody (Brook), Jacob, Lexi and Graci. Also surviving is his younger brother, Rusty (Cathy), of Sumter; and brother in law, Jim Eason (Debbie), children Melissa Bell (Matt); Heather Eason; and Jonathan Eason. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his parents in law, Vernon and Celeta Eason; and nephew, Julius III 'Tripp' Heckle. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington located at 4620 Augusta Rd. (Highway #1 between West Columbia and Lexington). Funeral services will follow the visitation in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road (off highway 378 one block west of I 20), Lexington. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church Forward Capital Campaign, 4347 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101; or the charity of one's choice.

We Entrusted William Heckle's Care To
Greenlawn Memorial Park
Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
