William "Shorty" Myron Milberger
July 2nd, 2011
William M. "Shorty" Milberger, age 87, of Cloquet, died July 2, 2011 in The Lighthouse of Cloquet. He was born June 23, 1924 to Frank and Hannah Milberger. He was a World War II veteran serving in India driving trucks from India to China on the Burma Road. Shorty married Lorraine Guyard on July 10, 1948 in Cloquet. Shorty was employed by Northwest Paper/Potlatch Corporation most of his life. He was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, Paper Workers Local 97 and Firemen & Oilers Local 939. He attended and was a member of Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle. In his earlier years, Shorty spent a lot of time at his sister and brother-in-law's farm helping out haying and tending the farm. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Big Lake and spent many hours improving the property. Shorty liked collecting coins, board games, playing cards, puzzles, horseshoes and especially origami. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his "Little Rascals". You could always find him tinkering in his garage. After his retirement, he especially enjoyed spending time with his brother, Vernie, and his sister, Mary. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; brothers, Gordon and Harry L. Milberger; and two great granddaughters, Chelie Clark and Gabrielle Libson. Shorty is survived by two daughters, Kay (Bill) Ross of Vancouver, WA and Nancy Anderson of Cloquet; three grandchildren, Cary (David) Libson of Brooklyn Park, Amber (Bernie) Despot of Carlton and Jeremy Kantonen of Cloquet; six great grandchildren, Braxten and Kolten Clark of Brooklyn Park, Payten Libson of Brooklyn Park , Brianna and Alex Despot of Carlton and Noah Myers of Cloquet; two sisters, Muriel Johnson of Carlton and Mary Warner of Cloquet; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Milberger and Mardel Milberger and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services were held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Inurnment followed in Maple Grove Cemetery.
