William Franklin Murray, Jr.
March 11th, 1966 - December 13th, 2023
It is with deep sadness to share that William Franklin (Frank) Murray, Jr, 57, of Wedgefield, South Carolina, passed away December 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on March 11, 1966 in Columbia, South Carolina to William and Lillie (Jones) Murray, Sr. Frank loved laughing and telling all kinds of stories about what recently transpired in his life. He could make situations into something comedic or be forthright to try to convince you his way was the right way. He could laugh a lot but also be very passionate when he felt things weren’t right for whatever reason. Frank was the kind of person who could make friends with anyone no matter the background or age. He had such an outgoing, larger than life personality that he never met a stranger. You could often see him on the dock fishing when he could, under the hood of a car, or pursuing his long time hobby of building model cars. He was a loving Son, Brother, Grandfather and a great Father who was very much loved in return. William is survived by his two sons, William Kenneth Murray (Heather) and Jonathon Michael Murray (Rose); parents, William Franklin (Bill) Murray, Sr. and Lillie (Jones) Murray; sister, Janet Murray Grubbs (Dan); grandson, Oliver Michael Murray; nephews, Zachary Dylan Grubbs, Jacob Sebastian Grubbs and Benjamin Harrison Grubbs; along with many cousins. He is predeceased by his youngest child, Noah Bubba Murray. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral home at 845 Leesburg Rd on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 1:00-2:00. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 with David Sturgeon officiating. Burial will be on December 27th, 2023 at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery surrounded by immediate family. Memorials may be sent to Thompson Funeral Home.

We Entrusted William Murray, Jr.'s Care To
Greenlawn Memorial Park
Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
