William “Bill” Nick, passed peacefully, surrounded by his three loving daughters on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Bill was born in Smethport, PA on July 13, 1936. In high school, he met the love of his life and soul mate, Mary Jean Bullers. They were married in Smethport on April 28, 1956. Bill received his B.A. of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University in 1962 and continued to be employed by Dresser Industries and their subsidiaries, up until his retirement in 1995. Bill and Mary Jean raised three daughters and they selflessly devoted their entire lives to them. Annette Marie Nick came along first while living in Bradford, PA. Janine Nick (Rust) was born 6 years after Annette, and Claudia Jean Nick (Wilson) followed a short 17 months later. Bill was the most loving, patient and devoted father any person could ever have. While residing in Hinsdale, NY, Bill was very involved in his community. During those years, Bill served as the President of the School Board and also served on the Hinsdale Fire Department as the Treasurer and as a volunteer firefighter. Bill and Mary Jean relocated to Elma, NY (Buffalo suburb) in the early 70’s to further Bill's career as the Comptroller for Jeffrey Mining in Olean, NY. Bill devoted countless hours to our family’s passion for horses. He thoroughly enjoyed the incredible task of caring for them, as well as the time spent travelling with the family to regional and national horse shows. Bill and Mary Jean relocated to the Columbus, Ohio area in 1980 and spent many happy years there while ushering the last 2 daughters through college. This is where Bill began his life long love and passion for golf. After retiring in 1995, Bill and Mary Jean moved to sunny Venice, FL. There, they found much happiness, made many wonderful friends, played lots of cards, and thoroughly enjoyed their leisure years. Bill was able to enjoy golf and played regularly on his home course, Capri Isles Golf Club. He was very proud of his “Hole In One” accomplishment on his birthday in 2009. Nothing brought Bill more joy than spending time with his grandchildren, Nicholas Ryan Wilson, Connor Reagan Wilson, and Shannon Marina Rust. “Grandpa” would engage them in long talks and worked tirelessly to expand their knowledge. Bill and Mary Jean cherished time with their grandkids while swimming in the pool, playing cards and games of strategy. Bill’s devotion to his beloved grandchildren was second to none and he shared a very special relationship with each of them. He was incredibly proud of them. Bill spent his last months at Grand Living in Lakewood Ranch where he received incredible support and loving care from their amazing caregivers and staff. Bill is remembered as being a man of unparalleled integrity, compassion and kindness. He genuinely cared about the people in his life, whether he knew you for an hour, a year or a lifetime. He left an indelible mark on all that knew him. Bill leaves behind his beloved daughters, Annette Marie Nick of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Janine Nick Rust and her husband Stephen Paul Rust and granddaughter, Shannon Marina Rust, all of Stamford, CT; and Claudia Jean (Nick) Wilson and her husband, David Allen Wilson of Milton, GA, and their sons: Nicholas Ryan Wilson of Houston, TX and Connor Reagan Wilson who is attending Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. As one of 12 children, Bill is survived by brothers Earl (Polly) Nick; John (Pam) Nick; his sister Connie (Don) Switzer; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Bob) Nick. There will be a private celebration of Bill’s life with his immediate family at a later date.
