Yen Chih
June 17th, 1940 - September 18th, 2011
Mr. Yen Chih Lee, owner of Chef Lee?s Mandarin House ???in Monterey, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon. His companion, older brother, and eldest son were present along with other immediate family members. Coming from a humble Chinese background and immigrating to the U.S. in October of 1973 from Korea with his young family, he first established himself in a small restaurant in Seaside. Because of the excellent reputation of his culinary skills, he moved his business to its present location in Monterey which will remain a symbol of his life?s accomplishments and his cultural contribution to his community. He leaves his companion, Sun Yang Kim, his son and daughter Linstun and Judy Lee, as well as his younger son, Roger Lee who recently lost his life serving in Afghanistan and his youngest son Daniel Lee of Chicago; his older brother, Yen Li Lee??? , his nephews, Peter Lee (Lee Lin Yung ???), John Lee (Lee Lin Chong ???),Michael Yang???and Noah, his nieces Ester Yang ???and Anna Tao, and six grandchildren.

Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952.
