Zella Jean Schumpert
August 28th, 1934 - February 18th, 2014
WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Zella Jean Shumpert , 79, of West Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Edmund First Baptist Church, 6256 Edmund Hwy., Lexington, SC 29073. Pastor Johnny Slice will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Herb Hayden, Jonathan Hayden, Mike Weese, Eric Weese, Michael Hoover and Drew Longshore. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 will be assisting the family. Mrs. Shumpert, beloved wife of 24 years to the late C.W. "Dub" Shumpert, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late Lewis D. Hall and Amy Polson Hall. Zella loved working in her garden during the summer tending to her many beautiful Day Lilies and enjoyed working on her jigsaw puzzles every day. She was a member of Edmund First Baptist Church and enjoyed "Good Gospel Singin". Surviving are daughters, Gail Huntington-Hayden (Herb) of Gilbert and Wanda Weese (Mike) of Columbia; son, Todd Hoover of West Columbia; six grandchildren, Ashley, Erin, Eric, Michael, Kristie and Jonathan; five great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Abigail, Jessica, Kayla and Logan; grand-dog, Apollo; brothers, Harold Hall and Reverend Carroll Hall both of Hartsville. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Hoover, grandson, Trey Huntington and siblings, Verlie H. Brown, Hollie H. Watkins, Gladys H. Hall, Azilee H. Johnson, Lewis Douglas Hall, Jr. Berzliee H. Hall and Frances H. Cooper.
