Danny Ray

Danny Ray, age 67, of Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. He simply went to sleep and awoke in the arms of Jesus. He was of the Baptist faith and accepted the Lord as his Savior. He loved wood working and working with his hands. He was known as a jack of all trades amongst his family. He was always willing to help those around him. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Ray; parents, Carty and Mollie Ray; brothers, Richard and M.C. Ray; and sisters, Lois South and Pauline Floral. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carolyn Ray; children, Jason Ray (Alisha) Marsha Hurd (Marty), Sharon Byington and Ray Compton; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eloise Hobbs and Phyllis Amyx; brothers, Gary Ray (Sue), Jackie Ray (Linda), Billy Ray (Pat) and Garnet Ray (Beulah); several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Ross Campground Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
