Woodrow (Woody) Wade, 72, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Holston Manor Nursing Home where he had made his home for 15+ years. Woody grew up in the Long Island community, attended Sullivan High School, was in the US Navy for 3 years, worked at Eastman, and went into the painting business before the disabling stroke. He is survived by his nursing home family; to whom we are most thankful for the years they cared for Woody; and for the friends he made there. Thanks especially to the Preachers and singers who come often, and hearts are lifted. Some, like Woody, even learn to sing although it is very difficult for them to carry on a conversation. Preceding him in death were his mom and dad, Walter (Preacher) and Lovely Wade; his brother Robert Wade and his sisters Carolyn Justice and Sandra Wade. Survivors include his children, Bill Wade, Anna Leigh Ward and Sherry Wade; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sister, Joann (Jack) Salyer; his brothers, Jackie(Mary); Larry (Sue); Randy (Yvonne); and Ronnie Wade; and his uncle, R.J. Laney. A Celebration of his life will be held at Holston Manor Nursing Home (Atrium) on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Phil Whittamore speaking. A military service and burial of his ashes will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee conducted by the Hawkins County Honor Guard and U.S. Navy Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Wade family.
