James Richard Edens

Rick Edens, age 62, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 2015, unexpectedly. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an employee of Tri Cities Petroleum for the past 14 years and has worked as a truck driver for 30+ years. He was an avid NASCAR Racing and Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and he thoroughly enjoyed collecting automobiles. He was most proud of his family and especially his children and grandchildren. He had also lovingly cared for his mother for the past year and loved her very much. He was preceded in death by his father, George B. Edens; great-nephew, Daniel Brummit; and niece, April Shelton. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Donna Edens; 3 daughters, Christy McMillian, Melissa Wall (Chris) and Jessica Roberts (David); 8 grandchildren, Jake, Katie, Micheal, Kai, Lucas, Ashtyn, Noah and Austin; mother, Virginia Edens; brother, Randy Edens (Jequetta); sisters, Janice Osborne (Kenneth), Audrey Spears, and Diane Shelton; mother and father-in-law, Ted and Linda Carter; 2 brothers-in-law, Jeff Carter (Darlene) and Russell Carter (Trisha); and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Webb, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
