Carter-Trent Funeral Homes - Kingsport
Shelby Hensley
June 13th, 1938 - May 31st, 2015
Shelby Jean (Sheb) Hensley, peacefully entered into rest (Sunday May 31st, 2015) Shelby loved her family, her grandbabies and her great grandson. Her family said of her: She was a hardworker, who also enjoyed tinkering in her garden. She could make any bad day all better. Always upbeat, she was definitely the life of the party. She was always thinking about the other person; and always wanted to feed you. She loved to brag on her family; and was considered the world's best mother in law. She loved all children. She enjoyed the holidays; and never met a stranger. Shelby enjoyed traveling many places; and took bus trips quite often with her traveling buddy Janie. She was the floor supervisor at Tri City Towel and Linen where she retired after 30 years of service. She never missed a days work even tho she couldn't drive. In the words of Dewey, "She can't be beat; and a part of me is gone." She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Crawford; siblings, Boone Crawford, Carl Crawford, Dorothy Blevins, Irene Adams, Luther Crawford, Joe Keener Crawford and Frances Greathouse. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dewey Hensley; three daughters, Debra Hensley and boyfriend David Ison, Brenda Tipton and husband Larry and Freda Fansler; four grandchildren, Adam Tipton, Melinda Fansler, Josh Fansler, Whitney Tipton and great grandson, Hunter Hendrickson; sister, Sandra Mae Osborne; special niece, Janie Lou LaFollette; several nieces and nephews; several brothers and sisters in law. The family will receive friends from 4:30pm till 7pm Wednesday (June 3rd, 2015) at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow with Rev. Mark Roberts officiating. Music will be provided by Joyce Davidson and Eddie Wininger. A graveside service will be 11am Thursday (June 4th, 2015) at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wes Osborne, Jim LaFollette, Jonathan LaFollette, Jeff Thacker, Ronnie Jones and Kenny Kerr. Those who plan to go to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:20 to follow in procession.
