Gypsy Hughes Ray

Gypsy Hughes Ray, 62, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord (Friday March 27th, 2015) Born in Greeneville, TN, she gave her heart to Jesus at the age of 5. She worked in the office of Dr. Jerry Falwell at Thomas Road Baptist Church. In recent years, she has worked as a receptionist at Arthritis Associates in Kingsport. A charter member of Homeland Baptist Church, she was a godly woman, and a mainstay of faith, believing that God would do what He said He would for her and her family. With an infectious smile and keen sense of humor, Gypsy will be missed by many in the community. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Hughes. She is survived by her daughter, Rebekah Thacker and husband Clinton; son David Ray and wife Veronica; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Andrew Thacker and Dillon Ray; mother, Nana Hughes; brother, Craig Hughes and wife, Jean; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:30pm Sunday (March 29th, 2015) at Homeland Baptist Church A service will follow at 3:30pm with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steve Hughes, Randy Hughes, Terry Hughes, Larry Ray, Justin Quillen and Bill Wetherholt. It was Gypsy's wish, and the family's desire to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and care given to them over these past several months, not least of which, Arthritis Associates.
