Bernie Thompson
February 27th, 1925 - September 18th, 2011
Bernie Thompson age 86 went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2011. He was born on a farm near Belpre, Kansas to Edward Everett and Beatrice Thompson on February 27, 1925. Bernie enjoyed a career spanning 46 years in the welding supply industry in management. He retired from Oxygen Sales and Service in 1989. Bernie was a veteran of WWII serving in Italy as a flight engineer/gunner in a B-24 bomber. He flew 33 combat missions. Bernie loved his family and cherished his wife. He enjoyed golfing and achieved three holes in one over a period of 35 years. Bernie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Puyallup. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Thompson. His family included his children, Pam Warren (deceased), Trish (Jack) Kelley, Diane (Bob) Sallee, Jan (Michael) Guthrie and his brothers Gaylord (deceased) and Harland. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23rd at the First Baptist Church in Puyallup at 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A graveside service was held at Tahoma National Cemetery.
