Ronald "Ron" Flem Steadman
November 16th, 1929 - January 16th, 2015
Ronald F. Steadman Ronald Flem "Ron" Steadman, age 85, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 16, 2015 after a brief illness. A sixth generation Sullivan County resident, Ron grew up on the Steadman Farm which was later acquired for the construction of current Stone Drive. He was in the first graduating class of Lynn View High School in 1949. He proudly served in the U.S. Army 361st Engineering Battalion, 6th Armor Division, serving during the Korean War. Ron spent over 45 years working in Automotive Sales—primarily at Anderson Ford in Kingsport. He was a past member of Kingsport Optimist Club and a member of the Ruritan Club. He was also a member of Christ Fellowship Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Anna Ruth Wooten Steadman; brothers, Harry R., Howard, William "Bill", Lee, and Carl; sister, Carrie. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Steadman of Kingsport, son, Barry Steadman and wife, Kristi of Kingsport; Grandchildren, Audra and Luke Steadman; brother, George Kirk Steadman, Jr. of Church Hill, TN; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Monday evening, January 19, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Christ Fellowship Church with Pastor Greg DePriest officiating and Rev. Dr. William D. Gibson. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service. Graveside services will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport with Military Graveside Honors provided by TN National Guard Military Honor Group, Rev. Dr. William D. Gibson and Pastor Greg DePriest. Pallbearers will be Mark Cox, Phil Horner, Chip Williams, Kevin Rock, Scott Melton, Mike Hagood, and Robert Williams. Memorial contributions may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research at JimmyV.org Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the family of Ronald Steadman.
