John Robert Rogers, 71, of Church Hill, TN went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a member of the Virginia National Guard for four years. He worked for Holston Defense for a number of years. He also worked as a maintenance worker for Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. John is preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Allie Rogers; brothers, Burt and Jess Rogers; and sisters, Ruby, Maxie, Georgia, Lou, and Betty Jean. John is survived by his companion of 42 years Carol Collins; brother WT Rogers and wife Mildred of Kingsport; sisters, Gladys Calhoun and husband Roby of Church Hill, Reba Hartgrove of Gate City, Edith Sanchez and husband Jean of Columbus, Georgia; a special nephew Tommy Whitley and wife Delores; sister in-law, Myrtle Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Carter Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport from 11am to 1pm. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Rogers Family Cemetery in Yuma, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Carter Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Rogers Family.
