Emily Jean Porter (Merritt, Williams) December 22, 1909- August 15, 2007 Emily was born in Wilkeson, WA. to Emily Morris Merritt and Francis G. Merritt. She was the middle child and had 3 sisters and 3 brothers. For the first forty-six years of her life, she answered to Emily, Ahm & Mom. For the last forty-nine years, she answered to Hug or Huggy. August 15th, after spending 97 1/2 years on this earth, Emily left to be with her Lord and Savior. Emily was the very loving mother of 4, Barbara Kay Wilson (Charles), Tedde LeAnn Perkins (preceded Emily in death January of 1978), James Raymond Porter (Nadine), and Chester Merritt Porter (Kathryn). She also leaves behind Tedde's 2 girls Renee and Shelley who she helped raise after Tedde's death. Emily married Ted Williams in 1930 until his death in 1938. She married Chet Porter in 1941 and they resided in North Puyallup where they raised the 2 girls (from Ted) and their 2 boys. Emily and Chet then retired to Browns Point where they designed and built their beautiful home. They spent more than 50 years together, until his death in December 1999. Emily was most happy when she was surrounded by her family and friends, gathered at her dining table eating her fabulous meals and baked goods. Emily lived a very long and happy life and she always enjoyed being around her 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren all of whom where very special to her. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Good Samaritan Home Health & Hospice Care, PO Box 1247 Puyallup, WA 98371 The viewing will be Monday August 20th 4-8 pm at Curnow Funeral Home 1410 Main St. Sumner, WA. Memorial Service following at 11 am at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1725 Porter Street, Enumclaw, WA
