Donald Bloomquist

Don Bloomquist of Sedalia died July 27 at Skyridge Medical Center in Littleton as a result of congestive heart failure. Don was born December 25, 1927 in Muscatine, Iowa to Rev. Victor and Bessie Bloomquist. He attended school in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Corning (Iowa) High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. Don married Loye Kennedy on September 4, 1949. He sold automotive hardware for Bowman Distribution for 26 years. Don and Loye moved the family to Colorado nearly 50 years ago. Known for his sense of humor and engaging personality, Don was embraced by people of all ages. He was a longtime Denver Broncos fan, and enjoyed working in his shop. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Roy and Charles, and sister Evelyn Petty. He is survived by his wife Loye and three children: Dan Keith Bloomquist (Janice) of Parker, Diane Lynn Myskiw (Ron) of Sedalia, and Dennis Keith Bloomquist of Canon City; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., August 5 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, staging area “A”, conducted by Rev. David Knight. Reception immediately following at the house of Dan and Janice Bloomquist.
