Don passed away May 10, 2024, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family at the age of 86 from Multiple Myeloma.

He is survived by his wife Darla Maddox of 53 years of marriage, his children Dona Deutschman, of Junction City, Debby Alcazar of Crandall, Texas, Dana Maddox of Sandpoint, Idaho, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Don was born January 13,1938 of La Fayette and Mildred Maddox in Bethel, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his two sisters Shirley Peterson and Lavonne Nelson and Daniel Maddox of Eugene, Oregon who passed away in 2022.

Don graduated from Oakland High School, Oregon in 1956. He had married Dolly Urben, later they divorced. He attended the University of Oregon and graduated with Bachelor's of Science in 1962. He worked his whole life as a Real Estate Appraiser in some capacity. In 1981 he was the President of the government Appraiser's Association, and was a past member of the American Society of Appraisers as well as Real property Manager of the Department of Public Works in Lane County and a Senior member of International Right of Way Association.

He enjoyed and loved being with family, watching his grand-kids and great grand-kids play sports. He liked the outdoors, camping, fishing, classic cars, and his 62 Thunderbird.

We will miss his loving, caring, calm approach and his passion for life.

We want to thank Cascade Hospice and Visiting Angels for all their love and support.

Established in 1953 in West Eugene, Lane Memorial Gardens spans 40 acres, featuring manicured lawns, natural areas, and captivating views of the Willamette Valley. Famous for its exquisite statuary and wildlife haven, the site is a fitting place for permanent remembrance. Recognizing the need for additional memorial options, we added a mausoleum and columbarium designed for above-ground casket and urn placement in 1983....
