Manuel was born in Santa Maria De Los Angeles, Jalisco, Mexico to Josefina Del Real Arellano and Jose Blanco Medina on December 24, 1953. As the eldest of his 7 brothers and sisters, Manuel had to contribute to the household responsibilities and just started to work at the age of 7 with his father tending to their cattle in their ranch. Aside from being a rancher, he also picked up on a few other jobs to get by as a shoe shiner, beer distributor, egg, milk, and lumber vendor. When he first arrived to the states to continue supporting his family financially in Mexico, he started to work as a bus boy in a Mexican Restaurant in Orange County for a short period until he was able to move further up North to the Monterey County area to live with his now late godmother in Salinas, CA. He soon began work as a field worker, not long after he met his beautiful wife and soon established Salinas, CA as his permanent residence and began to work for Dole for 47 years. Manuel had the skill set as a forklift driver and also went to school for welding and auto repair.

He picked up his favorite hobby of Karaoke, which he loved singing and did very well for his family and friends during all of the gatherings and at home in his spare time.

Manuel is survived by his wife of 46 years of marriage (Rafaela Blanco), 4 daughters (Leticia, Berenice, Yazmin, Cristina), son (Manuel Jr) , and 7 grandchildren (Denise, Giselle, Joseph, Desiree, Jon Carlos, Cristian, and Sofia)

Manuel was a happy, cheerful, devoted, respectful, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and son-in-law, who aside from working hard for his wife and children, he continued to financially support his parents. He loved spending time with all of his family and surrounding himself with all his good friends and colleagues that knew him well. Through his hard work and dedication showed his deepest appreciation and love to his wife, children, and grandchildren. His great love and work ethics will be carried on as an example on how to care for your loved ones, he will be dearly missed.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
