“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” —A.A. Milne

Mary Claire Ann Flynn (nee Boyle) of Turnersville passed away on May 27th, 2024, at the age 0f 90.

Family

Born to the late Daniel and Elizabeth (nee McGinnis) on August 19th, 1933, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  Mary is the beloved sister of the late John "Jack" Boyle, Daniel "Bud" Boyle, and two half-sisters. Mary is a graduate of Little Flower All Girls High School. During high school, Mary met the love of her life, the late John Flynn (2018). The two fell in love instantly and spent a loving 66 years together before John's passing. John and Mary welcomed their four loving children, Elizabeth Flynn, Kathleen (Mike) Dougherty, Patricia (Walt Cook 2015) Flynn, and John (Donna) Flynn. To Mary, spending quality time as a family meant the world to her. Every evening, Mary prepared dinner for her family to sit down and talk about their day together. On Sundays, Mary's brother, Bud, came over after church with pastries to share with the kids while Mary made her famous pot roast. In the summer months, John and Mary loved taking their children on road trips. After Bud passed away, the vacation home in Portland, Maine stayed in the family. Mary's life became much brighter when she became the adored grandmother of Christopher (Trish), Matthew (Meredith) Brad, Drew, Brian, Victoria, great-grandmother of Jill (Aiden), Mason, Luke,  and the privilege of being a great-great-grandmother of Benedict and William.

Legacy

Mary's children recall their mom's personality as comforting, loving, and reserved. She had a love for fashion, specifically jewelry. Mary never left the house without at least one accessory on. With three daughters, Mary loved to take her girls shopping. Even when she had different opinions on their fashion, what was important to Mary was that the family was doing something together. Mary's children finally wore her down and she allowed a puppy. Her son, John, wanted to make sure the puppy could stay, so he slept in the kitchen with the puppy, making sure it wouldn't cry and keep Mary awake.  Mary also loved to spend time with her friends, listen to Frank Sinatra, and traveling.
