Betty Jean (Miwako) Waki Mayeda 1930 ~ 2024 - Betty, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully May 14, 2024 at Hillcrest Senior Living, Loveland Colorado. Betty was born May 29, 1930 in Spring Canyon, UT to Kurasuke and Kazuno Kawahara Shimizu. Her father died shortly after her birth. Her mother later married Kenshiro Waki. Their family resided in American Fork where she graduated high school. She married Kazutoshi Mayeda on June 17, 1949. She worked as a personel manager at Ex-cell-o Corporation and the Stroh brewery in Detroit Michigan before retiring to Las Vegas, NV and then Loveland CO. Her hobbies included doll making, miniature houses and room boxes. She is survived by her children, Karen Gersch, Kathy Mayeda, and Michael Mayeda; four grandchildren Kevin Gersch, Kimi Verilhac, Julia Halualani, and Jeff Mayeda; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Mekayo (Wilma) Kimura, Kemie Oda, and stepsister Mary Kawakami. Preceded in death by her husband Kazutoshi, brothers Sam, Utao, Mitsuo, sister Yomiko Kotoku, stepbrother George, and stepsister Smiley Amano.
