Tommie Lee "Tom" Blalock
October 1st, 1946 - May 30th, 2024
In Loving Memory
Tom lived his life with magnetic positivity, engineering any and everything, a little luck, and with quick wit. His intelligence was undeniable and to be in his presence you were sure to have a laugh or two.
Tom was born on October 1, 1946, to Myrtle Edwards and Horace Blalock in Canton, Georgia. Toms’ childhood was greatly impacted by his wonderful grandparents.
Tom had many names, but his favorites were Sarge and Dad-E. To shine in the light, he left behind include his wonderful daughters, Brittany Blalock and spouse, Taylor, Keri Beal and spouse, Jordon; his grandsons, Kedon (Bologna), Kingston (Grilled Cheese), Kyler (Lefty), and Emerick (Purple); sister; Marty; and nephew, Tim and spouse, Sarah. He has now joined his beloved wife, Kyleene Blalock and son, Llyod Blalock.
Tom was very creative and a super talented artist. Whether he was helping with his girls’ school projects, his grandkids Halloween costumes, carving pumpkins, or creating unique gag gifts – he always had an idea and something up his sleeve. Tom also loved to write and if you were given anything written by him you were bound to hang on to it and treasure it forever.
You could also call Tom very particular. His yard and car were kept pristine and if he were to ever be offered help (because he never asked) you would be given a detailed diagram to complete the task to his liking. Should you need your car, TV, washing machine, kids’ toys, or anything imaginable fixed, Tom was the man you called. His daughters know that no one will be able to fill his fixer-upper shoes.
Tom's hobbies included drinking his Maxwell House coffee, watching Braves games, playing poker, playing pool, pestering his kids and grandkids, spoiling and loving on all his doggies, and having thought provoking conversations at the table with family and friends.
Tom served his country in the Air Force during Vietnam. Tom also was an engineer working on ATMS, payphones, and working on the team creating the first MRI. Continuing his work after invention, Tom travelled to fix MRI machines all over the country, retiring in this field. His daughters were very proud of his accomplishments and enjoyed playing Dr. with all the MRI scans he would bring home. Tom passed peacefully on May 30th, 2024, with his daughters by his side.
Tom leaves his loved ones with these words:
May life be gentle with youMay God’s best come your wayAnd on some quiet tomorrowKnow someone loved you everyday
