December 13th, 1950 - March 8th, 2007
" Belchertown – Cheryl M. (Owen) Opalenik, 56, of South Washington St., died suddenly at home on March 8, 2007. Born December 13, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Edythe (Brown) Owen. Cheryl worked for Sunbridge Health & Rehabilitation in Hadley and for Western Mass Elder Care meals on wheels program in Ludlow. Professionally she worked at the Belchertown State School and Belchertown Elementary Schools as well as the coordinator of events for Mill Valley Country Club and Jaspers restaurant. In her leisure she enjoyed home projects, gardening and above all being with her grandchildren. She is survived by a son Eric Opalenik and his wife Carol, her daughter Kari Bachand and her husband John, Jr. along with her four grandchildren that she adored Samantha and Ashley Opalenik and Patrick and Grace Bachand all of Belchertown. Her three siblings, Judy Snyder and her husband Fredrick of Etters, PA, Ricky Owen and his wife Natalie of Belchertown and Pamela Owen of Concord, MA also survive her. Cheryl will also be missed by her niece Tamatha Owen-Waldron and her family; husband Wayne along with their children Nina and Mia, as well as a nephew Jason Owen. She was predeceased by a brother Terrance Owen in 2000. A Memorial service was Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the service from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation 1 Armory Sq., Springfield, MA 01105. "
