"Granby-Ethan A. Rideout, 49, passed away March 11, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Holyoke and raised in Granby, Ethan was the son of Elaine (Colthart) Rideout and the late Frank Rideout. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Teresa Rideout, their children Erin and Ben, his mother Elaine and her longtime companion David Hurley, and his sister Alison Spencer of Estero Florida. Ethan was entirely dedicated to his family, his work and fishing. He was a devoted husband and father and deeply cherished his wife and children. As the owner of Rideout Concrete, he was well known in the community and respected throughout Western Mass. for his excellence in concrete work, always finishing up with a personal touch. He had a passion for fishing and was not above sneaking off to Forge pond or the base at Westover in order to lure some large mouth bass onto his hook. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held at the funeral home on March 17th at 10:00 am, followed by burial in West Cemetery in Granby. Ethan wanted everyone to be comfortable so please feel free to dress casually, including blue jeans and tee shirts. In lieu of flowers or food, donations may be made in his memory to Shriner's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. "
