John M. Missale
August 19th, 1948 - May 20th, 2017
"Hadley - John M. Missale, 68, of River Dr., passed away on May 20, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born August 19, 1948 in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Amedeo and Gloria (Cignarale) Missale. John lived in Vernon, VT for many years before moving to Hadley in 2001. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, during Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He retired from Westover Air Reserve Base after working as an Air Reserve Technician and retired as Chief Load Master after a total of 37 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Deerfield Post 3295 and the First Congregational Church of Hadley. He was a Yankees fan and hobbies included flying remote control planes, racing sprint cars, model trains, golfing and boating. He was especially proud of his newly restored 1957 Thunderbird, as well as the work he completed on his river-side property. John will be deeply missed by wife, Vikki J.(Burrington) Missale of Hadley, two children, Jill Hockney (Matt) of Quincy, MA and John Missale (Martha) of Vernon, VT and a step-daughter Kelly Stokes of Chicopee. He also leaves three brothers, Michael (Joanne) of Melbourne, FL, Cookie of Deer Park, NY and Ronnie of Melbourne, FL, six grandchildren Davyn, Darian, Tucker, Luke, Jacob and Amanda and his former wife Ellen Missale of Ware. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 4-6:00 p.m a.m at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, followed by a service at 6:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. For those wishing to follow in procession to the cemetery, please meet at the funeral home for 8:15 am. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project."
