Doris Brougher Wallace died at Goodwin House in Alexandria Virginia, her home for 27 years, on October 15th, 2014, of natural causes. Doris was born in the Panama Canal Zone. She attended American University and spent her adult life as a devoted wife and mother. She was the beloved wife three late husbands, Major General Bogardus (“Bugs”) S. Cairns (USA), Colonel Mansell “Red” A. Walker (USA) and Colonel Neil M. Wallace (USA). Doris is survived by her sister Betty Campbell of Nashville, Tennessee, her children Colonel Douglas B. Cairns (USAF Ret.) and his wife Diane of Montgomery, Alabama, Patricia Cairns Hourin and her husband General James J. Hourin (USAF Ret.) of Diamondhead, Mississippi, and Scott S. Cairns and his wife Deborah of Jacksonville, Florida, by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and by her devoted friends. Doris will be remembered at a memorial service at Goodwin House on November 5th at 3:30pm and will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery near her husbands. Doris supported the Goodwin House Foundation and The Washington National Cathedral, to which contributions may be made in lieu of flowers.
