" Theodore W. Skowyra, lifelong resident, 84, of Old Palmer Rd., died December 12, 2006 in Wingate at Wilbraham Nursing Home. Born in Ware, MA on August 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Tabek) Skowyra. Mr. Skowyra was a US Army Veteran who served his country during WWII. He was the owner and mechanic of Ted’s Car Care Center in Palmer for over 25 years. He also started General Machine Shop on Thorndike St. in Palmer with his brother Anthony. Ted was a selectman in Brimfield, a member and past commander of the American Legion post 263 and member of the Lions Club. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Carter) Skowyra in 2005. He is survived by a daughter Mary Ellen Skowyra and her life companion Richard Trahan of Belchertown and a son James Skowyra and his wife Kathy of Brimfield. He also leaves three sisters Teresa Homsher of Long Beach, CA, Clara Sellon of Woburn, MA and Ann Haley of Monson, a brother Anthony Skowyra of Brimfield and a granddaughter Mackenzie. A funeral service will be Friday at 6:00pm in the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the service on Friday from 4:00-6:00pm. Burial will take place in the spring. Donations may be made in his memory to the M.S.P.C.A, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105. "
