" Hollis P. Corey, 74, of the Bondsville section of Palmer, died Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Holyoke Soldiers Home in Holyoke. Born in Bakersfield, VT on March 17, 1932, and was the son of the late Fred and Gertrude (Bovat) Corey. He attended school in Vermont and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the combat infantry badge, Korean service medals, 4 bronze service stars, United Nations Medal and the National defense service medal. Mr. Corey was a proud member of Amvets Post 74 in Three Rivers. He settled in Palmer after his military service and was employed as an auto mechanic before starting his own business Corey Aluminum in Palmer. He is survived by a son Hollis Corey, Jr. of Glendale, AZ and two daughters Patricia Mayberry of Thorndike, MA and Donna Corey of Lake Wales, FL. He also leaves a brother Fred Corey of Palmer, three sisters Esther Merrill, Phyllis Harper and Dorothy Minney all of Palmer along with three step-children Richard Kirchner of Belchertown, Kurt Kirchner of Chicopee and Deborah Boynton of Thorndike. Five granddaughters and four great grandchildren as well as step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren will also miss him. He also leaves his former wives Verna Besaw of Bondsville and Joan Lawler of FL. He was predeceased by two sons James Corey in 2004 and Roger Corey in 1959 along with a sister Carlotta Alberelli. A Graveside service will be Wednesday at 10:00am in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Palmer. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte. 20). For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the Holyoke Soldiers Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040 or V.N.A. & Hospice of Cooley Dickinson, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060. "
