Helen M. Simard
January 25th, 1917 - March 21st, 2017
"Granby - Helen M. (Belanger) Simard, 100, of Granby and formerly of South Hadley, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on Jan. 25, 1917, daughter of the late William and Yvonne (Boudreau) Belanger. She was raised in Chicopee, attended Chicopee schools, and lived in South Hadley for many years before moving to Granby. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman A. Simard. She was also predeceased by her brother, Wilfred Belanger, and sisters, Amelia Ginley and Annette Robitaille. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, David J. Simard and his wife, Michelle, with whom she lived. She was predeceased by a son, Norman Simard, and a daughter, Jean Marie Simard. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Ilise, Yvonne, Christopher, Danielle, and Michelle, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 5-7 p.m at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, South Hadley. Her burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen's name may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Dept. 41831 P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265. "
