Elaine Shirley Minow Greene Burton Resnick Sept 6, 1932 Milwaukee - Jan 19, 2021 Virginia Beloved sister, mother, stepmother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend; leaving behind her brother Newt Minow, her children Carol Greene Gellman and Chuck Greene, and grandchildren Jesse, Mattea and Talia Greene. Beloved confidant and mentor to family and friends. Three times a wife and three times a widow, marrying high school sweetheart Armin Greene (eloped at 17), Jerry Burton (becoming stepmother to adult children Tom and Elizabeth Burton) and Sol Resnick. After her first career as a speech therapist helping people communicate, she graduated Loyola Law School at 50. She became a trusted attorney and conservator for those with special needs, once arguing a case for the ACLU before the California Supreme Court. She retired to Tucson, Arizona where she became a leader in adult learning at the University of Arizona and was active in the Jewish community. She was a life-long world traveler, exploring with a small bag, a backpack and a good camera. She could strike up conversations and make lasting friendships wherever she went, with an unflagging interest in other cultures and an insatiable curiosity about the world. She died in Virginia at 88 years old after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. If you’d like to make a donation in her memory, organizations important to her are the Moebius Syndrome Foundation (https://moebiussyndrome.org/) and the ACLU (https://www.aclu.org/), or to your own favorite cause (charitable or political). She would approve of planting a tree but she was allergic to almost all flowers so no flowers please! A virtual Shiva and memory sharing via Zoom is scheduled for Tuesday January 26 from 7 to 9 pm eastern time; family welcomes your participation. The Shiva will be led by Rabbi Jonathan Kraus from Temple Beth El, in Boston. Below is a direct link to the Zoom meeting that will become active fifteen minutes before the start time and also a password and ID if you prefer to go to Zoom directly. Please join the Zoom meeting with a screen name we will recognize as the default may be a device name or email. The first part of the Shiva will be prayers and recitals followed by brief comments from her brother, children and grandchildren and a short slide show. We will then welcome memories from any participant. It will facilitate organization if you let Elaine’s son know in advance that you plan to offer a memory. ([email protected]). We expect to end the Zoom meeting by 9 pm and hope to have enough time to accommodate all who want to share. For those unfamiliar with Zoom, there is a meeting test feature on their web site you can use to make sure your device’s camera and audio are turned on and compatible. Once the meeting is open for comments, there should be a mute/unmute icon you will have to use when the host recognizes you. This is the Zoom link to join the service (just click on it). If you prefer you can also join at zoom.com using the following: Meeting ID: 849 9627 9474 Passcode: 528934
