All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Edward Schulte
December 8th, 1943 - September 21st, 2015
Edward August Schulte was born December 8, 1943 to Joseph and Clara (Menard) Schulte. He was the youngest of three boys. Ed grew up in Colorado after his family moved from Chicago in July 1947. He graduated from George Washington High School in Denver. After attending Trade School for auto mechanics and working as a mechanic, Ed was hired by Royal Typewriter and worked there for 11 years. He then worked for Jefferson County Public Schools as the Manager of the Office Equipment Department for 30 years. Ed retired in 2007. In 1966 he married Margaret (Maggie) Brewer. They had two sons, Mark Joseph and Kevin Edward. Ed and Maggie later divorced. In 1974 he met Dianne (Peterson) Halingstad. They were married on June 22, 1975, making a home in Lakewood, Colorado. This union added her four children to their family; Eric, Allen, and twins Michael and Kristi. Ed is survived by his wife Dianne, two brothers David and Richard; his sons Mark and Kevin; his stepchildren Eric, Allen, Michael and Kristi; his 15 grandchildren, his 1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Ed loved to ride his bike and rode many times for Children’s Hospital and the MS 150. When he realized he’d ridden his bike over most of the large mountain passes in Colorado, he started volunteering for the Children’s Hospital bike tour. Ed received two awards for Volunteer of the Year from Children’s, and this summer was able to visit his team of volunteers in Copper Mountain during the annual bike tour. Ed was chairman of the Property Team at Holy Shepherd and performed tirelessly in maintaining the property and buildings of HSLC. He loved to travel and went to Mexico several times with friends and family. He also traveled to London, England and Curacao. He took road trips from the Pacific Northwest to New England, Minnesota to Texas and many other states. He and Dianne took cruises to Alaska, New England, Mexico and last fall, a river cruise on the Danube.
