"Joseph “Rocky” R. Chadbourne, 71, of Lloyd Ave. died August 21 at home. Born in Holyoke, March 11, 1935, he was the son of the late Lloyd C. and Catherine (Kraceski) Chadbourne. He was a lifelong resident of Belchertown and a graduate of its high school. He owned and operated Chadbourne Petroleum Products for 13 years, and later worked at the UMASS, Mercy Hospital and Cooley Dickinson Hospital Power Plants. He retired from Mass. Municipal Wholesale Electric Co in 1998 after 10 years. He was a longtime member of the Vernon Lodge of Masons and served his country in the Army. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia (Gawlik) Chadbourne, a daughter Brenda Marceau Chadbourne and her husband Daniel Marceau of The Woodlands, TX, a son Lt. Col. Duane Chadbourne and his wife Colleen of Mandeville, LA, along with two granddaughters Allison Wurmbrand and Ava Chadbourne and 7 step-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother Lloyd of Belchertown, his mother-in-law Jane (Laczek) Gawlik of Belchertown and his brother-in-law Robert Gawlik and his wife Mary Ellen of Scottsdale, AZ, and six nieces and four nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Jessie Gay and Lois Smith. Funeral services will be Monday August 28 at 10:00 a.m. in Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, followed by burial in Quabbin Park Cemetery, Ware. Calling hours are Sunday August 27 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. For those wishing donations may be made in his memory either to the family for the benefit of a local athletic program or to the American Diabetes Association Massachusetts Western MA Office, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457"
