"Robert Prentiss passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Genisis of Westfield, a native of Granby most of his life and of Bradenton, Florida. Born June 8, 1929 in Holyoke, he was the only child of Earle H. and Florence R. Prentiss. Robert was educated in Granby Schools and graduated from Holyoke Trade School. He was a member of the Mass. National Guard. Robert was a well-known contractor and home builder in the Granby area most of his life, the last ten years before retiring he worked as Maintenance Director of Phins Hill Manor in Granby. Robert loved the outdoors, being in his wood lot, skidooing, picking strawberries or his favorite shrimp cocktail with a B.B.C. beer. He was also very proud of his tribal heritage, a member of the Dakota Souix of Pine Ridge South Dakota. He traveled with his wife Terry to Pine Ridge and National Parks making many fond memories. Robert leaves behind his wife Theresa (Doray) Prentiss of thirty-two years. He also leaves a son Robert Prentiss, Jr. of South Hadley, two daughters Joyce Ross of Chicopee, Carol Dunn and her husband Jerome of Sunderland. His stepson Neil Twohig of Baltimore, Maryland, stepdaughter Shelly Dellaquila of Westfield, granddaughters; Kimberly Duval and her husband Stephen Duval, Mikaela and Lexix Dellaquila, Abbey and Chelsea Twohig, grandsons Vincent and Alexander Ross and great-grandsons Ryan and Tyler Duval will also miss him. Robert was predeceased by his first wife of twenty-seven years, Claire Sullivan. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at West Cemetery on West St., in Granby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Town of Granby Cemetery Commission. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. "
