Hubert S. Rees
July 10th, 1924 - July 4th, 2006
"Belchertown- Hubert S. Rees, 81, previously of Jabish St. passed away July 4, 2006 at his daughter’s home. Born July 10, 1924, he was the son of the late William and Georgina (Thomas) Rees. Hubert was previously employed at Bendix Industry in Westfield and was very proud to be part of the mobile Police in Westfield. He has lived in Belchertown since 1986, previously of Westfield. Hubert grew up in Newfoundland and then returned to Everett at the age of 18. He was a generous man and caretaker of everyone and enjoyed family outings with his family. Hubert was also the engineer and one of the original hosts of a radio program for the patients at Westfield Sand. in the late 1940’s, where he was hospitalized for several months. He was predeceased in 1997 by his wife of 48 years, Patricia (Gerrish), and is survived by his loving children Debbie and her husband Arthur Fish, Jr. with whom he lived in Belchertown, William III of San Jose, CA, and Hubert S. “Buddy” Jr. and his wife Cindy of W. Springfield. “Poppy”, as he was known by his grandchildren, also leaves 7 grandchildren, Nichol Gagne and her husband Dan, Arthur Fish III, Heather Fish, Shauna, Jordan, Cassandra, and Alexandrea Rees as well as a sister Doris and her husband Ken of Toronto, Canada. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and a memorial graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Hubert’s memory to either Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01102 or to the St. Francis Building Fund, Belchertown, MA 01007. "
