Jean Marie Porwoll

"Monson, Jean Marie Porwoll, M.D., 60, of Reimers Road, died Tuesday, August 3 at Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer surrounded by many caring friends. Born in Brainerd, MN, October 16, 1949, she was the daughter of Clarice "Marie" (Hellen) Porwoll of Brainerd, MN and the late Method Porwoll. Jean was Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine, as well as Infectious Disease. She spent 25 years of her career at Wing Memorial Hospital as the Director of Emergency Services. Most recently she has worked as a physician for Hampden County Physicians Associates in E. Longmeadow. Jean, who enjoyed an affinity for the arts, served on the Monson Arts Council Art Show Committee for many years, and served for 3 years on the Monson Arts Council Board. She was a dedicated member of the Monson Conservation Commission from 1992 - 2004. Among her many leisure activities were photography, kayaking, cooking and gardening. Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister Donna Porwoll of Baxter, MN, and a brother Joseph of Kirkwood, MO. She will also be missed by many friends and colleagues. Friends may gather to pay respects on Monday, August 9 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte.20). A service to celebrate her life will be Tuesday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to the Monson Arts Council, P.O.
