Caroline M Wright
January 15th, 1929 - June 9th, 2006
" Palmer – Caroline M. (LaRose) Wright, 77, of St. John St., died on June 9, 2006 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. Born in Northampton, MA on January 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathryn (O’Brien) LaRose. She retired in 1995 after working as a waitress for 33 years at Old Storrowton Tavern. Following her retirement she worked at the Hampden Country Club. Caroline was very proud of her Irish heritage, an avid reader, and a Boston Red Sox fan. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Caroline was predeceased by her husband Lawrence S. Wright (1999) and a son David Wright on Easter Sunday in 1970. She is survived by five children, John Monska and his wife Elyse of Chicopee, Kathleen McCollum and her partner Dennis Philibotte of Belchertown, Mae Wright and her husband Ron Benoit of Kansas City, MO, Karen Philibotte and her husband Dale “Sam” w/ whom she lived and Grace Burek and her husband Gery of Ludlow. She also leaves eight grandchildren Kelli, Ami, Troy, Kara, William, Greggory, Katie-Lynn and Stephanie and four great grandchildren Victoria, Samuel, Nathaniel, Gabriel and two on the way. She will be missed by a close friend Kay Blakesely and the girls from Storrowton Tavern. The family also extends special gratitude for the love and care given by her hospice nurse Jane Bobowicz, and home health aide Ann Clough. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:30am at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Bondsville. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. followed by a Remembrance Service at 8:00pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to either the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance, UMASS Memorial Foundation, 1 Biotech, Suite 100 365 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605 or to Quaboag Valley Hospice 42B Wright St., Palmer, MA 01069. "
