Barbara Ann Mullins
November 12th, 1933 - July 7th, 2023
Barbara Ann Mullins was a self-proclaimed "Mountain Girl" from the coal mining town of Stonega, VA. She grew up there with her loving mother (Margaret), father (Claud) and her younger brother (C.O.). Barbara was very proud of being the Salutatorian of her High School class where she began dating the love of her life. She graduated from Appalachia H.S. around 1950. Soon after, the coal mines closed and Barbara moved with her parents to Glen Burnie, MD. In 1954, her handsome beau, Forrest Thomas Mullins (A.K.A. Tom), proposed marriage and the two were married within one week! Tom joined the Air Force and in a short-time, was stationed in Portland, OR. It was in the early 1950's and during the Korean War era. This was after an agonizing time of separation and Barabar moved west several months later. Anxious to say good-bye to military life, be closer to relatives, and to start a family, Tom and Barbara settled in Arlington, VA. There they resided until they purchased a home in Gainesville, VA in the early 2000's. Barbara Mullins was a proud wife who was widowed in 2013 with the passing of her beloved husband and his long battle with cancer. She was a wonderful and proud mother to one son, Brett Thomas Mullins (1958-2022). She is survived by her brother, (C.O. Cress), her daughter-in-law (Laurie Mullins), her grandchildren (Nick Mullins and Maggie Thomas), her grandson-in-law (James Thomas, Jr.), and her great granddaughter, (Alina Calderon-Mullins).
