November 21st, 1924 - January 7th, 2024
Mary L. Payne, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 7 January 2024. She was the daughter of the late John and Anna Piatkowski of Forest City, PA. Mary was the wife of the late Edward Payne; loving mother to Karen Spilker (Wayne), Nancy Redmann (Jeffrey); grandmother to Jessica Rodgers (Dylan), Courtney Thomasson (Corey); and great grandmother to Cole Rodgers. Mary grew up in Forest City, PA. She performed clerical work in the payroll office at the local telephone company; served as a teacher’s aide at the elementary school in Shady Side, MD; was employed by the Board of Education and Health Department in Annapolis, MD; and was devoted to raising her family. She enjoyed visits from her great grandson, reading, and her true passion was gardening. Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Piatkowski, who was killed in action during WW II; Edward Miller; and two sisters, Lucy Piatkowski and Elizabeth Gudaitis. The funeral service will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
