John Richard Chase

"John R. Chase, 24, formerly of Deerbrook Drive, died Sunday at his home in Chicopee. Born in Springfield, March 19, 1981, he was the son of John H. and Claire M. (Lacasse) Chase of Granby. John grew up there and was a 2000 graduate of Granby High School. He completed his BA in Graphic Arts at Westfield State in 2004. Among his many accomplishments in high school were being captain of the cross country team, being chosen Class Artist, and also working on the school’s literary magazine. He has worked with his father since he was 16 at Chase Automotive Trim and Glass in Chicopee, and among his many responsibilities were developing the business website and designing its advertising. John was a talented artist, but also enjoyed snowmobiling at the family chalet in Quebec and riding his Harley. He and his dad rode in many charity rides, including the Molly Bish Ride. Besides his parents, he will be deeply missed by his sister Melanie and his grandmother that he watched over. He will be long remembered by his numerous friends, and most of all by Damon, his American Bulldog. A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, March 18 at 12:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte. 116) followed by burial in West Cemetery Granby.
